Tesla says it plans to buy DDI circuit boards for cars in 2019
Tesla’s board of directors has approved an acquisition of DDI, a manufacturer of electrical circuit boards that has been in production for more than two decades.
The board of the Palo Alto, California-based company confirmed the deal on Thursday.
The deal is expected to close by the end of this year.
The board of DDO has approved the acquisition of ddi.com, a service that sells ddi products.DDI is a major player in the market for electronic componentry, which is critical to the performance of modern cars.
DDI makes the chips used in the electronic drive systems and other electronic components that power a variety of cars, from luxury sedans to small electric vehicles.DDRD is a brand name for the company’s DDI electronic circuit board technology, which the company says provides up to 100% of the electrical performance of the car.
The announcement comes just weeks after Tesla confirmed that it will sell more than 1,100 of its upcoming vehicles powered by its Model 3.
Tesla said that the company expects to sell roughly 1,800 vehicles during the second half of 2019.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk has previously said that he hopes to see the company reach a profit on the Model 3, a decision that has angered many carmakers and electric-car fans.
